The energetic Ford Explorer is the rare SUV that doesn't feel like an SUV when you're behind the wheel.

The upbeat acceleration and deft handling starts underneath the hood where you can select from a few different engine choices. The first being the 2.3L EcoBoost® engine that boasts 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.

After that, there's the 3.5L V6 engine that churns out 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. Finally, there's the 3.5L EcoBoost® engine that generates up to 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.

To venture onto off-road terrain, there's the Terrain Management System™, which allows you to select from a handful of surface-specific modes like snow, gravel, sand, and grass.

2019 Ford Explorer Interior Dimensions

One of the most endearing qualities is the mammoth Ford Explorer interior, which comfortably houses cargo, passengers, and really anything else you'll need for a long trip.

The front row legroom is a good example. It measures 42.9 inches, with the second row checking in at 39.5 inches, and the final row sporting 33.3 inches. There's also plenty of shoulder room to go around. The front row measures 61.5 inches, the second row 61 inches, and the third row is a spacious 50.8 inches.

When considered all together, the passenger volume measures 151.5 cubic feet. As for cargo, there are three dimensions depending on your seat adjustments. With both rows standing, the number hits 21 cubic feet of space. Fold down the third row, and you'll find 43.9 cubic feet. Finally, you can fold down both the second row and the third row for a luxurious amount of room-81.7 cubic feet.
