Ford F-250 Towing and Powertrain
Impressive capability starts with a powerful engine, and the 2019 F-250 has two to pick from:
- 6.2L V8 Gas Engine:Â 385 horsepower, 430 lb-ft of torque
- 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel Engine: 450 horsepower, 935 lb-ft of torque
Both engines have been carefully engineered for heavy duty operation and boast high-capacity towing capabilities. However, if you have a particularly heavy load to tow, the diesel engine can accommodate at least one ton more than the gas engine when properly equipped:
- Gas Engine Maximum Towing Capacity:Â 18,500 pounds
- Diesel Engine Maximum Towing Capacity:Â 15,800 pounds
For an extra assist while towing, BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Trailer Coverage is available. This system notifies you of traffic in your side blind spots and all along the length of the trailer, so that you know when it is-and isn't-safe to merge on the highway.
Both engines are paired with a TorqShift® 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission with Tow/Haul mode to improve efficiency when under pressure. This truck also has a single rear-wheel drivetrain, available in either rear-wheel drive (4X2) or 4-wheel drive (4X4).
Ford F-250 Cargo Capacity
While we know the 2019 F-250 can pull its weight, what about what it can carry on its back? To answer that, it makes many cargo options available, with a choice between an 8-foot box and a 6.75-foot box:
- 8-Foot Box Cargo Capacity:Â 78.5 cubic feet
- 6.75-Foot Box Cargo Capacity:Â 65.4 cubic feet
This truck also makes three different cabin configurations available: Regular Cab, SuperCab, and Crew Cab. The Regular Cab seats three passengers, and the SuperCab and Crew Cabs can seat up to five passengers. If you need more space, the cabins allow for additional cargo storage behind the front seat:
- Regular Cab Cargo Volume:Â 11.6 cubic feet
- SuperCab Cargo Volume:Â 31.6 cubic feet
- Crew Cab Cargo Volume:Â 52.1 cubic feet
Your payload capacity also varies depending on your cabin configuration, with the regular cab allowing you to carry the heaviest load:
- Regular Cab Payload Capacity:Â 4,270 pounds
- SuperCab Payload Capacity:Â 3,990 pounds
- Crew Cab Payload Capacity:Â 3,890 pounds
If you need an assist loading or unloading your truck, the 2019 Ford F-250 makes some helpful tools available. For a leg-up into the bed, you can pull out the available Tailgate Step. If you need to move anything on a dolly or load up a tractor, you can also fold down the available Stowable Loading Ramps for extra convenience.
