2022 F-150: Selecting an Engine

Ford has always offered the F-150 with unique performance options. The 2022 version of the truck can be enjoyed with your choice of six powertrains.

If you want a V8, there's a 5.0L TI-VCT V8 making 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Or, if you prefer a hybrid, you can snag a 3.5L V6-making a whopping 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque.

The rest of the lineup are V6 offerings:

  • 3.3L TI-VCT V6 making 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque
  • 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 making 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 making 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque
  • High-Output 3.5L EcoBoost® generates 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque

For the properly-equipped 2022 F-150, the maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds, and maximum payload of 3,325 pounds, are both achieved using the high-output V6.

Your capability remains high even if you go for something like the hybrid engine, which tows 12,700 pounds and offers a 2,120-pound payload figure when properly equipped.

2022 F-150: Cab Sizes and Trim Levels

In addition to picking out the engine you want, you have to select the size of your truck, as well as the trim level.

There are three cab sizes offered:

  • Regular cab seats 3 passengers
  • Super cab seats 6 passengers
  • Super crew seats 6 passengers

You've also got a trio of bed lengths to select from:

  • 5.5-foot box
  • 6.5-foot box
  • 8-foot box

Lastly there's the lineup of available trim levels. Each trim will bring something unique to the table. If you want luxury, off-roading ability, or anything else, you can emphasize those traits by selecting a specific trim.

The XL and XLT are the first two options, followed by the Lariat. The rest of the trims include:

  • King Ranch
  • Platinum
  • Limited
  • Tremor
  • Raptor

The Raptor and Tremor trims lean toward the off-roading features and technologies, while the King Ranch and Platinum are tremendous luxury options.
