As a versatile and adaptive SUV, there's no denying the Ford Escape is a great choice for commuting around Scranton or taking off to Tobyhanna. The next question, however, is which of the four Ford Escape trim levels is the better pick for Pocono Pines and Blakeslee area driving.

To help our Mount Pocono area customers understand their options, Ray Price Ford created this breakdown.

Ford Escape S

  • The S trim comes with the standard 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission and the standard 2.5L I-4 engine, which generates 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque.
  • With an EPA-estimated 24 MPG combined fuel economy, this trim is great for both city and highway driving.
  • The Escape S also includes the SYNC® Voice Recognition Communications and Entertainment system that uses Bluetooth® and voice commands for wire-free, hands-free access to music, calling, and texting.
  • Generally, this trim is good for someone who wants a basic SUV without all the bells and whistles.

Ford Escape SE

The SE trim is the first where the Intelligent 4-wheel drive (4WD) systems is available. It also upgrades the engine to the 1.5L EcoBoost® I-4, which generates 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.

This engine also comes with Auto Start-Stop, which turns off your engine to conserve fuel during long stops at traffic lights and stop signs.

The Escape SE is where the Ford Safe and Smart™ Package is first made available. This package includes:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Auto high-beam headlamps
  • The Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®)

This trim also offers many comfort features, including heated front seats, a 10-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support, and the dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control system. Also, the Ford Escape SE is the first trim where you can add the available Panoramic Vista Roof® and the Class II Trailer Tow Prep Package for towing up to 2,000 pounds.

Escape SEL

  • If you're a fan of SYNC® 3 with the 8-inch color touchscreen and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ capability, you'll want to upgrade to the Ford Escape SEL.
  • This trim adds in some more convenience features, as well, including heated sideview mirrors, a power liftgate, and the Reverse Sensing System.

Ford Escape Titanium

The Escape Titanium throws in an extra boost of power with the 2.0L EcoBoost® I-4 engine, which generates 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. It also includes Auto Start-Stop.

This trim comes with Enhanced Active Park Assist, which locates a parallel or perpendicular parking spot and helps steer you into it. You'll also get the driver's seat memory feature, which makes it easier to share a car without having to constantly readjust your seat.

This is the first trim where an auto-dimming rearview mirror and the Remote Start System come standard, as well as the hands-free, foot-activated liftgate. Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start, which allows you to enter and start your Escape without taking your keys out of your pocket, is also only standard in the Titanium trim.

Finally, if you're looking to tow, this is the trim you want. The available Class II Tow Prep Package with Trailer Sway Control ups this SUV's towing capacity to 3,500 pounds.
