2018 Ford Mustang in Orange FuryA performance-inspired car gives you a thrilling and fun driving experience. Muscle cars are great to be seen in and cruise around Mount Pocono, Scranton, and Blakeslee.

So, which one of the classic American muscle cars still holds up and is right for you? Ray Price Ford takes a look at three timeless rides for you in this Ford Mustang vs. Chevy Camaro vs. Dodge Charger comparison.

Camaro vs Mustang vs Charger: Interior & Exterior Style

As soon as you see the 2018 Ford Mustang, you'll recognize it as the latest reincarnation of this classic sports car.

It greets you with a huge black mesh grille with the famous Mustang logo in the center, followed by a large rounded hood.

The back also features design elements that call back to the past generations with a rounded bumper, raised edge, and available spoiler.

It's narrow 107.1-inch wheelbase and 76.1-inch width give it the ability to get quick handling for an agile and an exciting drive.

The 2018 Chevy Camaro isn't able to handle as well with its longer 110.7-inch wheelbase. It also doesn't do the same to honor its predecessors. Looking at its low pointed front and raised back, it looks like a completely different car than older, classic versions.

The same is true for the 2018 Dodge Charger. It's no longer available as a coupe or a convertible, but only as a midsize sedan. It also features the same cross design grille that you find on all Dodge vans and SUVs.

Ford Mustang vs Chevrolet Camaro vs Dodge Charger: Engine Performance

2018 Ford Mustang: Powerful PerformanceThe Ford Mustang features lots of readily available power under the hood with two exciting engines to choose from.

The first is a 2.3L EcoBoost® I-4 engine that gets up got 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.

The second option is a larger 5.0L V8 engine with Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT). This technology helps it both maximize its power and get a more efficient performance.

The Ti-VCT enables it to get up to 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, plus get an EPA-estimated 32 MPG highway.

Each engine is compatible with either a six-speed manual transmission and a 10-speed SelectShift® automatic.

Both the Chevy Camaro and Dodge Charger have multiple engines available, but with both them, the more powerful options aren't available until you get to the higher-level trims.

The base engine for the Camaro is a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that gets up to 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

For the Charger, there's a 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine that can produce up to 300 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque.

Neither the Chevy or the Dodge muscle car is able to get the same fuel economy as the Ford Mustang, either.

2018 Muscle Cars: Media & Technology

2018 Ford Mustang Impressive Technology FeaturesWhen you're behind the wheel of the 2018 Mustang, you'll have both power and an advanced infotainment system at your control.

The Ford SYNC® 3 system gives you an 8-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen in the center of your dashboard.

The system blends into the design seamlessly, and gives you voice-activated navigation and control over entertainment apps like Spotify® and Pandora®. You can also connect your smartphone with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.

Another way you can connect your phone is through the FordPassâ„¢ app. It allows you to lock, unlock, start your engine, and locate your car all from your smartphone. If you've got an Amazon Alexa at home, you can link the system to it, so you can stay connected to home even when you're on the road.

To the left of your infotainment screen there's a 12-inch LCD digital instrument cluster in front of your steering wheel. It gives you real-time information on your drive and features MyMode. This remembers your favorite settings based on the way you drive and recalls them the next time you get behind the wheel.

Both the 2018 Charger and Camaro feature infotainment screens on their dashboards, but neither blends into the interior as well. Plus, they don't feature the connectivity of Ford and Alexa, and don't have an instrument cluster that's as interactive or advanced.
