We all know that the Poconos is breathtaking during the summer and can be easily admired from afar. However, nothing compares to getting out there and being a part of nature that surrounds us in this area.

If you want to truly take in all Mount Pocono, PA has to offer, check out our top picks for waterfalls and hiking trails to explore in the area.

Pocono Biking®

If you prefer to see the sights on two wheels, hop on a bike and enjoy one of the trail rides mapped out by Pocono Biking®. They offer several routes for you to pick from, with something for every taste.

If you have a full day to spend, bike the full Lehigh Gorge Trail. This 3- to 5-hour downhill trip takes you along the full 25-mile trail. It's a self-paced journey, so you can take all the time you want to view the rock formations, waterfalls, and wildlife along the way.

For a hiking-biking hybrid, you can hop on the guided Waterfall Photo Bike Tour. You'll take the same route but with several stops along the way to hike out to several waterfalls, scenic vistas, canal ruins, and other natural wonders.

Visit them on Facebook to find out when they offer their many trips.

Pocono Environmental Education Center

The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing environment education and sustainable living through hands-on experiences. They're located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation area, a 77,000-acre national park.

In addition to outreach, homeschool, and family programs, plus team-building ropes courses, PEEC also offers six hiking trails with varying distances and difficulty levels. All trails loop around to-and-from the PEEC Campus.

For moderate-level hikers, we recommend the Tumbling Waters Trail. This trail is color-coded with orange and takes approximately two hours to complete the three-mile loop. This hike starts with a scenic overlook of the Delaware Valley and Kittatinny Mountain.

You'll then make your way down a series of switchbacks to take in a gorgeous view of the waterfalls before finishing up with a hike through a hemlock forest, a mixed oak forest, and a pine plantation.

Check out their posts on Facebook to learn fun facts about local wildlife.
