For over 50 years, enthusiasts have looked to Motor Trend as one of the leading automotive authorities. With their comprehensive road tests, reviews, and comparisons, they're well-equipped to choose the best cars of the year.

Our team at Ray Price Ford has put together this article to show Mount Pocono, Tobyhanna, Scranton, Blakeslee and Pocono Pines drivers why the new Ford F-150 has been named the 2018 Motor Trend Truck of the Year.

The Highly Maneuverable 2018 Ford F-150

In recent years, Ford has caught some flak for affixing the F-150 with lighter-weight aluminum parts. It was a clear deviation from the way other brands were building their pickup bodies. However, it's ultimately proven to have some big advantages.

The overall 2018 F-150 chassis is quite rigid. Its front suspension is constructed with an independent double-wishbone with a coil-over shock and stamped lower control arm, making for a more maneuverable ride.

However, aluminum panels and parts are employed elsewhere in the truck, including the engine block. This means that the Ford F-150 is lighter than most other pickups on the market.

When you add that lighter framework to numerous handling features, including standard Curve Control and AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™, the F-150 can tackle even the most winding of roads.

Ford F-150 Engine Performance & Towing Capability

As is expected in the Ford F-150, the 2018 model offers numerous engine options. Standard is a 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 engine, capable of producing 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.

However, depending on whether you're looking for added power or added efficiency, you could add in a 2.7L EcoBoost® V6, a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8, or two additional powertrain options. The choice is all yours.

The Ford F-150 lineup has seven trims, each including multiple engine, rear axle, and towing accessory options. Depending on which you choose, your truck can haul anywhere from 5,000 to 13,200 pounds of cargo. In some cases, you haul may be heavier than the truck itself.

Nevertheless, the F-150 still has fuel efficiency in mind. In part due to its light frame, and in part due to its standard Auto Start/Stop engine technology, you'll maintain (in the standard powertrain with available 4x4) an EPA-estimated 20 combined MPG.

An Updated Ford F-150 Interior

Some pickup trucks stick with a more spartan interior array. The 2018 Ford F-150, on the other hand, impressed Motor Trend with its added amenities and conveniences. Here are some of our favorite add-ons...

  • The available 360-Degree Camera with Split-View Display isn't just helpful for parking. It can be used to assist in towing, too.
  • Available SYNC® Connect with the Wi-Fi® hotspot allows you to access your favorite apps on the go without using any of your data.
  • One of the optional audio systems, B&O PLAY Premium Audio, offers a robust sound, single-CD, and HD Radio™.
  • The available 10-way power adjustable driver's seat with heating and ventilation is supremely comfortable, especially during winter.
