With its fun and sporty handling and upscale, spacious interior, there's a lot to love about the Ford Escape. This compact SUV combines the maneuverability of a small car with the versatility of an SUV, giving you the best of both worlds. Our team at Ray Price Ford has put together this helpful information on the 2018 Ford Escape towing capacity to help you determine if this vehicle has the capabilities that you need for your trips around Mount Pocono, Tobyhanna, Scranton, Blakeslee and Pocono Pines, and beyond.

2018 Escape Towing Capacity

When properly equipped, the 2018 Ford Escape can tow up to 3,500 pounds. For this tow rating, you'll need the Escape Titanium with the 2.0L EcoBoost® Class II Trailer Tow Package. The Ford Escape SE and SEL both have a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.

Add the intelligent 4WD system to your Escape for better capability and control in inclement weather or when driving off pavement. This system is able to monitor traction and road conditions every 16 milliseconds, and can immediately react to problems by transferring torque from the front wheels to the rear wheels to ensure precise handling and traction in all conditions.

2018 Escape Engine Specs

The Escape S trim level comes standard with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that makes 168 horsepower and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. This base engine gets an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency rating of 21 city/29 highway MPG.

When you opt for the SE or SEL trims, you'll get a 1.5L EcoBoost® turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 179 horsepower. This engine is rated for 23 city/30 highway MPG.

Ford Escape Cabin & Cargo Dimensions

Not only can you haul cargo behind your Escape, but there's also plenty of space in the SUV's cabin for cargo and passengers. With all five of the vehicle's seats in use, there's 34 ft3 of cargo space behind the back row of seating.

When you fold the back seat forward, you'll gain access to a total of 68 ft3 of cargo capacity, one of the largest measurements in the class. The Escape is praised for its low cargo floor, which makes it easier to load up heavy or bulky items. For extra convenience, you can add the available hands-free power liftgate, so you can open the trunk even when your hands are full.
