The 2018 Ford F-150 is only a few months away, but the editors at Kelley Blue Book have already gotten a sneak peek with an early test drive. Their 2018 F-150 First Review is loaded with praise for the truck's new and upgraded engines, best-in-class towing, and general ease of use and driving experience.
The Engines:
Just about every engine available for the 2018 F-150 is new or has been improved from the previous generation.
The entry-level engine is an all-new 3.3-liter V6, which KBB says isn't "blazing fast," but gets up to highway speed nicely and can tow up to 7,700 pounds. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 is in its second generation, delivering 400 pound-feet of torque. It's about $995 more than the base engine, but delivers much better acceleration, KBB reports. Check out the full review for more engine information.
The Ride:
KBB says "the ride was comfortable," and praises the suspension's adaptability for both loaded and unloaded driving. The SuperCrew cab offers generous legroom, even for the middle seat, and the interiors can be upgraded with the height of luxury equipment—heated and cooled massaging front seats. Available driver-assist technology, like pedestrian detection and 360-degree camera, makes it easier to handle the large truck with confidence.
